PHARMACIST IRELAND PSI IRELAND PSI EXAM

Pharmacists

The Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) is the statutory body responsible for regulating pharmacists and pharmacies in the public interest.

Registration for Non-EU/EEA Trained Pharmacists
Pharmacists who trained outside the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) must navigate the Third Country Qualification Recognition (TCQR) pathway. This is a multi-stage process designed to ensure their qualifications meet Irish standards.

The initial Application (Stage 1) requires submitting the TCQR Form and arranging for official documents, such as academic transcripts and a Certificate of Professional Status, to be sent directly to the PSI from the issuing institutions.

Following the initial review, the PSI conducts a Holistic Assessment (Stage 2). This assessment evaluates the pharmacist's education, training, work experience, and the regulatory standards of their home country.

The outcome determines the next steps: Path A leads to direct qualification recognition, potentially exempting the applicant from further examination, while Path B requires the applicant to sit the PSI Equivalence Examination (Stage 3).

The final step involves submitting proof of English Language Proficiency (e.g., specific scores in IELTS or OET) before applying for First-Time Registration.
