REGISTER IN IRELAND AND MOVE TO IRELAND
Registration Pathways

CORU

CORU is Ireland’s multi-profession health and social care regulator, dedicated to protecting the public by ensuring healthcare professionals meet the highest standards of education, competence, and ethics. It oversees the registration of various professions, including physiotherapists, radiographers, medical scientists, dietitians, occupational therapists, and more.

Unlike other regulatory routes, CORU does not require a formal exam. Instead, applicants undergo a qualification and competency assessment, where their academic background and clinical experience are evaluated against Irish standards. If any deficiencies are identified, candidates may be required to complete a period of adaptation or supervised practice in Ireland before full registration can be granted.

Irish Dental Council (IDC)

IDC regulates dentists, dental hygienists, and dental nurses in Ireland. Overseas-trained dentists (from outside the EU/EEA) must pass the Irish Dental Council Licensing Examination, which consists of:
   •    Part 1 Covers basic sciences and bench test.
   •    Part 2 Covers clinical sciences and has 3 components theory paper, osce and viva.

Once both parts are successfully completed, candidates are eligible to register with the IDC and can then seek employment as dentists in Ireland.

Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI)
PSI is the statutory regulatory body for pharmacists and pharmacies in Ireland.
The Third Country Qualification Recognition (TCQR) is the official PSI registration route for non-EU/EEA-trained hospital and community pharmacists.
The route of registration is a two-step process. The first step is an application for recognition of your qualification. The second step is an application for registration.

PSI Equivalence Exam

  • Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs): Covers pharmacy practice, pharmacology, calculations, and related topics.

  • Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE): Assesses clinical judgment, communication, patient safety, and problem-solving.

Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI)
The NMBI  is the official regulatory body that ensures all nurses and midwives practising in Ireland meet the highest standards of education, training, and professionalism.

For overseas-trained nurses, the registration process includes document verification, qualification assessment, and—depending on the outcome—either an Aptitude Test or an Adaptation Placement.
